This post will count for Saturday, since I'll be at Staple!!! Again, wanted to test out the prisma markers, this time just grays. The line art clean up was able to remove the blue lines from under the marker as well this time, I guess because it had a clearer difference with gray vs. blue, and dropping out cyan would kinda do that, as the warm tones lack much in that dept. I'm guessing I couldn't do the same with cold tone prisma markers. More investigation bound to take place!

I got some new prismas, kind of an earth-tone set, as well as warm grays, most of which are almost brown-ish. I mainly wanted to test my new line art clean-up system to see if I could get away with using blue line pencil under markers and get away with it. For the most part it really worked, under some of the greens you can still see it, but I didn't have to use any eraser on this, which was great. Normally I'd have to fidget with it to no end...so fun!

I promised an extra sketch. I'm excited because I've got my pen position back. Something was off the past few days, and I finally was able to correct it and compensate for the weird effects of the air conditioning in work on how the ink flows.

Also, check this video out, Fanboy Video interviewing the Space Gun Kru at last year's Staple...plus some great shots of my cover. I was actually standing on the side. Trying to be like Ghostface Killah or something. But this year I feel good enough about myself to go onscreen if the need arises. Anyway, almost to the weekend, so I'm pretty excited!

I dunno' I thought it was funny, the whole, 'looks like he's pulling up, but using the background to establish the opposite' and such...

I will probably have another sketch at the end of the day. I am hoping to have any number of things happen soon. It's so tough when there are things that you know will happen, but you either can't say, or can't wait, in this case it's both. One such thing is waiting for a package to arrive, you know it's going to arrive, but when not given a tracking number, all you can do is guestimate, and that's never fun.

Psylocke for today's mini sketch. the back part of her is inked, the front half such as arms and legs are pencil. I'm just excited because after today the rest of the week isn't as filled with pressure from the job!

Post 285-STAPLE!!!

Yup, finally the countdown begins!!! I'm so excited, like Christmas all over again!!! Staple is finally happening! Friday after work, Jake, Luan, Matt, and I head down to Austin to have some well-earned fun and time to sell the goods that we've put our hearts into creating.

I'm trying not to let myself get too excited, but it's very tough not to be. I get to hang out with friends, see folks I haven't seen in a long time (haven't seen Kristian in person since Cape nearly a year ago), Hopkins will be there. Dean Trippe will be there!! So I get to hang out with my collaborators on various projects who just happen to be friends as well, so it kills two birds with one stone...thus the excitement!

Also, I've got a lot of paintings and some cool new prints that I got. Only got about 2 of each print because of the quality making them be pretty expensive...but it was worth it!

Anyway, I have sketches for tomorrow, and seriously, stop by and say hi to me. I'll be with the Space Gun Kru at tables 1, 2, and 3 (see chart above). We'll be glad to have anyone stop by and talk, that's what we do!

I love how Cory Walker and Nate Bellegarde post their thumbnail sized pencil sketches, so I think I'll start doing that so I can have some extra updates. It really doesn't take long at all. This took maybe 10 min even with the photoshop edits. But I'll just leave them pencil next time. But it's odd to leave something un-inked!
